Dr. Natividad Isabel Revil Magbalon, the incumbent vice-mayor of the municipality of Milagros was ordered suspended pendente lite for 90 days by the Sandigan Bayan in connection with her trial for withholding the representation and transportation allowance (RATA) allotted for the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (OMSWD) in 2013, in violation of Section 3(e) of Republic Act No. 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act).
In a three-page Resolution issued by Associate Justice Rafael R. Lagos, the anti-graft court ordered Magbalon to be suspended from performing any public office which she may now or hereafter holding for a period of 90days, such as functions, duties and privileges as vice-mayor of Milagros.
On August 10, 2016, the office of the Ombudsman posted that Magbalon was indicted for withholding allowance of Mrs. Diodidita Arcenas , who was the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO) of the said town. The Ombudsman said that Magbalon’s act was tainted with malice and bad faith because “no proof was adduced to prove such allegation [partisan political activity] nor did she notify complainant of her removal as MSWDO.”
Copy of Sandigan Bayan resolution was furnished to Masbate Governor Antonio Kho, for the implementation of the said suspension.
